The cake was made by an aunt. It was lemon flavored with raspberry preserve and covered with buttercream. It was decorated with green hydrangeas and purple and green grapes. The cake stand was a huge slab of wood which was cut by Laura‘s dad.
For the couple‘s favors they wanted to use 5cent candy because when they first started dating it was common for them to get 5cent candies and sit at the beach. They put the candy inside of Chinese style take out boxes decorated with a sticker of "Rawr means I love you in dinosaur" - a sentiment Laura loved!
The couple had a bright green bucket with signs made by the bride saying things like: yippee, woot, hooray and rawr for people to wave after the couple was pronounced husband and wife. There were also some Kleenex in the bucket for their guests to take just in case!
Mark didn’t really want to wear a flower so Laura found inspiration online and made the boutonnieres herself. They were made up of a leaf of burlap attached to a stick and wrapped in twine. She added feathers, buttons and a fabric bow. Each of the guys wore one and each one was a little bit different.
Mason jars were filled with yellow roses, a pink carnations, and a daisies to honor family members that had passed away.
Laura‘s mom had painted a piece of plywood with chalkboard paint and attached driftwood and rocks from the beach to the sign. Laura added "Best day ever!" and the sign is still on display in the couple‘s house.
The Bride: Laura Roberts, 26, Registered Nurse

The Groom:Mark Howard, 31, plumber

The Date:September 17, 2011

Laura and Mark met while in college. She worked at a coffee shop and he worked at a video store across the street. After some "mutual stalking" he worked up the courage to ask her out. He gave his phone number to one of her co-workers to pass along but she mistakenly thought it was for her. It took a while for Laura and Mark to reconnect, but after their first date, they were inseparable.
